If you’re a Mac user, you will undoubtedly recognize the famous startup chime that comes on after turning on your computer.
The sound became a famous pop-culture moment when it was featured in the film “Jurassic Park”—when the computers controlling park operations rebooted. Most recently, the sound was heard in Disney’s “WALL-E.”
Meet Jim Reekes, the programmer behind the startup chime and most of Apple’s sounds in the ‘90s. In this interview performed by Dutch site onemorething.nl, it was surprising to learn how technically challenging the process was.
