Cisco announced its newest router, the CR-3, earlier this week. The CR-3 is designed to handle massive scale data transfer rates.
The new router has a capacity of 322 terabits per second, 3 times higher than its predecessor, the CR-1. At this rate, the entire Library of Congress can be downloaded in just one second, and every motion picture ever made can be streamed in just four minutes.
Cisco said that Internet service providers need to upgrade their equipment for consumers to start experiencing faster speeds, which could be many years away. They are working on upgrading the largest providers in the world. The CR-3 has a price tag of $90,000.
